Merry Macy’s Cheerleader Christmas 2009

Merry Christmas wishes to our family and friends!  Vacations in Branson are our 2009 Heaven on Earth.  Our yearly update includes Alan’s exciting new teaching assignment for Missouri Baptist College .  Marilyn and Alan both enjoy teaching in the fine Farmington school district.  We are thankful to report that our church families have remained healthy and constant this year.  Alan serves on staff at both Memorial Methodist Church and Doe Run First Baptist Church .  Marilyn and the kids continue to worship there with Alan and also at Farmington First Baptist Church and New Heights Church .  Our blessing is “Home Sweet Church Homes” in the presence of precious Christian friends. Both sets of our parents are well.  We thank them for their unwavering love and support. Alan’s son Mark works at the Farmington Country Mart.  Alan’s daughter Amy and her husband Keefer live in Scott City with Alan’s three grandkids.

We are holding on to the reins of our lives as we speed through Abbi’s senior year celebrating her Homecoming Queen candidacy, Nutcracker Ballet performances, Cinderella role in the school play, First Place Science Fair Engineering Project,  Madrigal Feast Queen, and appearing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Abbi returned from NYC filled with exciting stories of independence and plans for a Holiday Home Tour.  When we dreamt of a daughter to love, hers was the face in our dreams.  When we wished for a sister to giggle with, hers was the voice we heard.  The world will pray for light, for help, and for love.  Abbi will shine.

Alayna has blossomed into energetic grace and joy. Dolls are packed away out of sight, replaced with books and gadgets. Piano lessons, ballet, jazz, and tap lessons, and several choirs fill her time. Fifth grade came in an instant.   Art, theatre and vocal performance interest Alayna.  We watch her dance with amazed eyes.  We listen to her sing at church and school with amazed ears.  We feel our hearts swell with pride whenever she is near.  We are drawn to her.

Boone is Alan’s “Mini-Me”.  Boone lives in the sports-season-moment, currently basketball, wrestling and soccer. Summer baseball tops his all time favorites list.  Deer camp down at Dry Creek with the Berry men is Boone’s idea of perfection. Boone earned the FBC Royal Ambassador of the Year Award.  We are certain this will lead to a pastorate in time. Boone has asked to change mothers to his second grade teacher, Mrs. England , and he reports that second grade is the best year of his entire life.  With Boone, we laugh, we compete, we play, but we rarely rest. He has brought us immeasurable gifts.

In May we attended what would have been our daughter Lexi’s High School graduation.  Abbi was the Junior Class President speaker.  Imagine hearing Abbi’s voice while seeing Lexi’s gown draped over her chair of honor. It was a little like seeing Lexi’s dress-up costume draped over her chair at home thirteen years ago while Abbi waited for her kindergarten sister to change.

Now imagine God’s infinite and unending love for us, His children, and the gift of His only Son.

Merry Christmas and God’s Blessings to You!
